Read the totaliser

Read the meter’s running total, not the last sale.
  • Digital meters often show the total over two lines, like 2947 over 582.823. Type it as one number: 2947582.823.
  • Mechanical meters show whole litres. Ignore the last wheel if it’s half turned.
The opening reading comes from the last sheet and can’t be typed over. Gasos works out the litres and the naira.

Photos

When to take them

At close, after you type each closing reading. The sheet asks for:
  • a photo of every closing meter, showing the reading;
  • a photo of the meter at a price change;
  • the waybill for each fuel delivery;
  • each POS or transfer settlement slip;
  • receipts for expenses, if you have them.
A missing required photo shows under Checks, and the day can’t be submitted until it’s taken. The Meters section counts them as you go (“12 of 16 meter photos taken”).

How to take them

Tap Take photo next to the reading. On a phone this opens the camera: hold it straight on, close enough that every digit is sharp, without glare. To use a photo already on the device, tap the upload icon beside it. The photo shows straight away with a percentage while it uploads. Got it wrong? Tap Retake.

Gasos reads the photo

Once a meter photo has uploaded, Gasos reads the totaliser from it:
  • Took the photo first? Gasos shows The photo reads 624,712 L. Check it against the meter, then tap Use to fill it in, or type it yourself.
  • Typed the reading first? Gasos checks it against the photo. Matches the photo means you’re done. If they differ, look at the meter again and correct whichever is wrong.
  • If the photo can’t be read (glare, blur, too far away), retake it closer and straight on.
A reading that differs from its photo shows under Checks as a warning, and the reviewer sees both figures in the photo viewer. It never stops you submitting: you know the meter, the photo is a second pair of eyes.

No signal

Keep going. The photo is kept on the phone, marked waiting, and uploads by itself when the connection returns, before the readings it belongs to. Don’t clear the browser or switch phones until the sheet says Saved.

Where they’re kept

Photos are made smaller on the phone (so they upload quickly and the digits stay readable) and stored privately in Gasos’s storage on Cloudflare. Only people in your company who can see that station’s sheets can open them; there are no public links.

Checking photos (reviewers)

Tap any photo to open it large. The viewer shows what was typed on the sheet beside it, for example “On the sheet: 624,712 L”, so you can compare digit for digit. Use Next and Previous (or the arrow keys) to go through all the day’s photos, and tap the photo to zoom. The Photos section near the end of the sheet shows every photo in one grid, grouped by meters, hand-over, deliveries and money, with any still missing listed underneath. If a photo doesn’t match its reading, raise a query on that line.

A reading lower than the opening

A meter only goes backwards when it rolls past its last digit, is reset, or is replaced. Gasos won’t accept a lower reading on its own: choose Explain the meter, say what happened, and (for a reset or replacement) enter the old meter’s last reading and where the new one started.

An idle nozzle

Still enter its reading (the same as its opening) and take the photo, so the reviewer knows it was checked.
