# Set up gas

> Turn on Gas (LPG), then set up a station's gas price per kg, gas tanks and gauges, dispensers with kg meters, and cylinder sizes.

Gas (LPG) is for stations with a gas skid and for gas plants. Gas is sold, stocked and priced by the kg. A station can sell fuel and gas, or gas only: a gas plant is a station with no fuel pumps.

<Note>
  Once gas is set up, it's recorded on the daily sheet: see [Gas on the daily sheet](/gas/gas-on-the-daily-sheet). Cylinder exchanges, tanker deliveries by weighbridge ticket, and bulk sales to dealers come next.
</Note>

## Turn it on

An owner or admin turns on Gas under **Apps**. Choose **Try free for 14 days**, then the stations that sell gas. The trial is once per company.

To keep it, choose **Buy** on **Apps**: ₦10,000 a month for each station that sells gas, paid for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. See [Plans and billing](/account/plans-and-billing#add-ons).

Turning it on adds the company's **LPG** product and six cylinder sizes. In **Station setup**, each station with Gas gets two more sections: **Gas (LPG)** and **Cylinder sizes**. Anyone who can set up the station can set up its gas.

## Price per kg

In **Station setup → Gas (LPG)**, tick **LPG** to sell gas at the station, and enter the price per kg. Once the station trades, the gas price changes on the daily sheet with **Change gas price**, so the gas meters are read at that moment. A station that already trades when Gas is turned on sets its first gas price here.

## Gas tanks

Add each storage (bullet) tank with:

* **Name**: as your staff call it, like *Bullet 1*.
* **Capacity**: in kg.
* **Gauge reads**: **Percentage** for a gauge that shows how full the tank is, or **Kilograms** for one that shows kg.

## Gas dispensers

Choose **Add Dispenser 1**. Dispensers are numbered on their own, apart from the fuel pumps. For each nozzle choose the side, the gas tank it draws from, and the meter type. Gas nozzles read kg and can only draw from a gas tank; fuel pumps can't draw from a gas tank.

A station that only exchanges cylinders can leave dispensers out.

## Cylinder sizes

In **Station setup → Cylinder sizes**, each size has, at this station:

* **Exchange price**: what a customer pays to swap an empty cylinder for a full one.
* **Full kept here** and **Empties kept here**: whether the station keeps that size in stock.

Every company starts with 3, 5, 6, 12.5, 25 and 50 kg. Add your own sizes with **Add size**. Sizes are the same at every station; only an owner or admin can retire one.

## Opening position

In **Opening position**, enter:

* Each gas dispenser nozzle's **kg totalizer**, with a photo if your station requires meter photos.
* Each gas tank's **gauge**: the percentage or kg it shows. A percentage is turned into kg from the tank's capacity, so 85% of a 20,000 kg tank is 17,000 kg.

## A gas-only station

A gas plant doesn't need fuel tanks or pumps. **Readiness** asks instead for the gas price, a gas tank, and the opening readings and gauges, along with the station's details and attendants. Then the station can start trading.
